Workwear as a category was built around a building. Every heritage brand in it grew up outfitting people who clocked in somewhere: a plant, a yard, a shop with a bay and a lift and a bench you come back to at the end of a job.

Mobile field service does not work that way. The machine does not come to you. You load the truck at five, you drive to a pad in the middle of nowhere, and you fix a forty ton machine on the ground next to it with whatever you thought to bring. If you forgot a fitting, the job stops. If it rains, the job does not stop.

The cowboy part is not a costume

It is the actual shape of the work. One person, a rig, a long drive, and a problem that has to be solved on site by the person who showed up. The nearest help is a phone call and the nearest parts counter is an hour each way. That is a cowboy job with a diagnostic laptop.

What the gear has to do

• Survive hydraulic fluid, diesel and a wire brush
• Read from the cab of a machine, which means a big mark and a real color
• Layer for a thirty eight degree start and a ninety degree afternoon
• Cost what a tech will actually spend on a shirt without thinking about it

Where it comes from

The badge belongs to B&B Field Services, a mobile construction equipment repair operation working out of Los Angeles County and the high desert. The excavator and the skid steer in the mark carry their initials. This line started as gear for that crew and the guys who kept asking where to get one.

What this is not

It is not safety equipment. Nothing here is ANSI or FR rated, and where a piece looks like it might be, the product page says plainly that it is not. Buy your rated gear from people who certify it.
